June’s fastest recovery was completed in just 10 minutes, with a stolen Ducati Streetfighter V4S fitted with a Datatool Stealth located and recovered in the Metropolitan area shortly after the theft was reported. MOST TARGETED BIKES IN JUNE
June’s recovery data showed Honda and Yamaha as the most frequently stolen brands this month. Honda models targeted included the WW125 scooter range, CRF1100, Africa Twin and CB650R, while thieves showed particular interest in Yamaha’s N-Max and MT125 scooters, plus the Tracer 900 GT.
BMW completed the top three, with an M1000R and an F850GS TE both recovered in the UK. A third BMW, an R1250 Adventure, was stolen and recovered across the Channel in France — a reminder that Datatool’s coverage extends beyond UK borders.
MOST MOTORCYCLE THEFTS HAPPENED DURING THE DAY
61% of UK motorcycle thefts in June took place during the day, with the remaining 39% occurring at night. From early morning commuter runs to lunchtime park-ups, thieves struck at almost every hour of the day and night in June.
This is a reminder that no parking location is automatically safe. Whether your bike is parked at work, outside a shop or on your own driveway, thieves will strike when an opportunity presents itself.
WHERE THEFTS OCCURRED IN JUNE
Motorcycle theft is not confined to one region – June’s data shows bikes being taken from city streets, residential roads and rural locations right across the country.
Key theft areas in the North
Leicestershire was June’s top northern hotspot, with activity concentrated around Leicester. Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire also featured, alongside a Yamaha taken from Lincolnshire, a quad bike recovered in Northumbria and further activity in Cleveland and Scotland.
Key theft areas in the South
London was once again the most active area for motorcycle theft, across the Metropolitan area. Essex, Sussex and the West Midlands also featured heavily, alongside Avon and Somerset, Hampshire and Kent.
