Most GPS trackers are built around a simple assumption: your vehicle goes out every day and stays connected to a power supply. That assumption fails the moment you’re dealing with a motorcycle parked up through the working week, a quad bike left in a barn, or a tractor sitting idle during the off-season.
The Datatool Quantum3 was built without that assumption. It’s a Thatcham S7 approved battery powered GPS tracker designed specifically for motorcycles, ATVs, quad bikes, and agricultural machinery — vehicles that spend more time stationary than on the move. With two new feature updates now live, it does something no other battery powered tracker in its class currently offers.
What Is the Datatool Quantum3?
The Quantum3 is a professionally installed battery powered GPS tracker, with installation included in the price. A trained engineer fits the device to your vehicle, so it’s secured correctly and positioned discreetly from day one. No DIY required.
Because the Quantum3 runs from its own internal battery, there’s no connection required to your motorcycle or equipment’s electrics. Once fitted, it tracks location in real time and sends movement alerts without drawing on your vehicle’s power at all, which makes a practical difference for bikes and farm machinery that can sit unused for days or weeks at a time.
If a theft does occur, our UK-based recovery team is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They work directly with law enforcement to track and recover stolen vehicles whenever they’re needed. That service is included as part of your subscription.
It’s also worth checking with your insurer, as many offer reduced premiums for motorcycles and off-road vehicles fitted with Thatcham approved GPS tracking devices.
New Feature: Customisable Position Updates — A First for Battery Powered GPS Trackers
No other battery powered tracker currently available lets you configure how frequently it reports location while your vehicle is stationary — and for agricultural and low-usage vehicles, that changes what GPS tracking can realistically do for you.
The Quantum3 already tracks throughout every journey. Now you can also schedule regular location check-ins during periods of inactivity:
- Every 1 hour
- Every 4 hours
- Every 8 hours
For a quad bike left across multiple fields, a trailer parked at a remote site, or farm equipment stored away from the main property, this gives you a confirmed location on a regular schedule. Instead of waiting for a movement alert, you get a recent, confirmed position on a timetable you’ve chosen.

That regular position data also gives the 24/7 recovery team more to work with if a theft occurs. A recent, accurate location makes a real difference to how quickly a recovery can begin — particularly for vehicles in rural areas where response times matter.
On battery life: more frequent position updates draw more power. Hourly check-ins will require more regular battery replacement than four or eight-hour intervals. Choose the interval that balances your security needs against your preferred maintenance schedule. For full guidance click here.
New Feature: Arming Schedules
Vehicles that sit unused for long stretches generate the most unnecessary alerts. Without controls, any movement around a parked bike or stored equipment — someone walking past, an animal in the yard — becomes noise that’s easy to start ignoring. Arming Schedules fix that.
You choose which days and times your Quantum3 is actively armed, and it handles the switching automatically. During the hours you’ve set, it’s on alert. Outside them, it stays quiet. No manual input needed each time you come and go.
A weekend rider might set the tracker to arm from Friday evening through Monday morning — quiet during the week while the bike is in use, watching over it at the weekend when it’s left unattended. For seasonal equipment, you can schedule it to stay continuously armed through the off-season, with no adjustments needed until you’re back out working. Farm and site owners can build their schedule around the working day, so activity on their own land during normal hours doesn’t trigger false alerts, while the tracker stays armed overnight.
To configure Arming Schedules, log in to the Datatool app or website and navigate to:
Vehicle Management > Alerts > Manage Quantum Schedules
Set your days and times, save, and the schedule runs automatically from there.

Datatool Quantum3 FAQs
Does the Datatool Quantum3 need to be wired into my motorcycle’s electrics?
No. The Quantum3 runs entirely from its own internal battery, with no connection to your vehicle’s electrical system required. This makes it suitable for motorcycles, quad bikes, tractors, and other equipment where a hardwired installation isn’t practical or desirable.
Is a subscription required to use the Quantum3?
Yes. An active subscription is needed to access real-time tracking, movement alerts, and the 24/7 UK recovery service. You can manage your subscription through your Datatool account online or by calling the Subscriptions Team on 01257 249 928.
Can fitting a Datatool Quantum3 reduce my motorcycle insurance premium?
Many insurers offer reduced premiums for motorcycles fitted with GPS tracking devices. Whether yours qualifies will depend on your insurer and policy — it’s worth contacting your provider .
What happens if my motorcycle or equipment is stolen
Contact the Datatool recovery team immediately — they’re available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They’ll use the Quantum3’s GPS data to locate your vehicle and work directly with law enforcement on your behalf. Regular position check-ins during inactivity mean there’s always recent location data to work from, which can make a real difference to recovery outcomes.
How do I set up the new Arming Schedules and Position Updates features?
Both are configured through the Datatool website or app. For Arming Schedules, go to Vehicle Management > Alerts > Manage Quantum Schedules. Position update frequency is adjustable within your tracker settings in the same account. If you need a hand getting set up, the support team can walk you through it.
