Quantum3 Tracker FAQ’s

How often does the Datatool Quantum3 send position updates?

As standard, the Quantum3 sends a position update at the start of every journey, five minutes into the journey, at the end of every journey, and by default every 24 hours during periods of inactivity — which ensures the tracker conforms to Thatcham guidelines. With an active subscription, you can also choose to add more frequent inactivity updates every 1, 4 or 8 hours.

Does the Datatool Quantum3 need a subscription?

Yes all our trackers require a subsciption this includes 24/7 theft monitoring, geofencing (Safe Zones) and customisable position reporting all require an active subscription. Plans start from £12.49 per month, with one-year (£119) and three-year (£309) options.

How long do the Quantum3 batteries last?

The Quantum3 is powered by two user-replaceable AA lithium batteries that typically last around three years on the default reporting configuration. Enabling more frequent inactivity updates will shorten that lifespan: roughly 2 years with 1-hour updates, around 1.5 years with 4-hour updates, and approximately 1 year with 8-hour updates.

Is the Datatool Quantum3 Thatcham approved?

Yes. The Quantum3 is Thatcham S7 approved, meaning it has been independently tested and certified for vehicle security. The default 24-hour inactivity update is part of how the tracker conforms to Thatcham guidelines, and Thatcham approval is widely recognised by UK insurers — often supporting lower insurance premiums.

Can the Quantum3 be used on vehicles other than motorcycles?

Yes. The Quantum3 is suitable for motorcycles, ATVs, agricultural and plant equipment, marine vessels, trailers and other valuable assets. A dedicated marine version is also available.

How quickly does a change to my Quantum3 reporting settings take effect?

You can update your Quantum configuration at any time, and the change will take effect from the next position update.

How do I change my Quantum3 position reporting settings?

A: On the Datatool website, go to Vehicle Management > Vehicles, select your Quantum unit and choose Configure Reporting. On the Datatool app, go to Vehicles, select your Quantum vehicle and choose Reporting.
